The Giant Grouper
Groupers are one of the largest reef-dwelling fish in the world and one of the largest bony fishes, reaching up to 3 metres and weighing about 1000 kilos.
They have a wide distribution throughout the tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific.
In Australia, they occur along all tropical and warm temperature coasts. They are usually solitary in nature and long-lived.
They are a protected species.
Grouper Feeding
Thomas Anderson has always been passionate about looking after local marine life.
In 2016 he started feeding a group of 10 giant Queensland groupers that reside in the Endeavor River.
A remarkable must-see for families and folks visiting Cooktown. With a mandate for conservation, Thomas feeds groupers on a regular basis when the tide permits, often removing tackle and hooks from their mouths.
